VTX Elevates Reed to West Region Area Manager
There is nowhere to go but up for Kent Reed, CEI, who has assumed the role of West Region area manager for Vertical Transportation Excellence (VTX®), a division of global infrastructure and engineering firm Gannett Fleming.
“I have worked in the elevator industry for 35 years, starting as an elevator mechanic before progressing into project and account management,” said Reed. “This hands-on field work, paired with my complex project management experience, provides me with a unique insight into how VTX can deliver the highest quality vertical transportation systems while focusing on the significance of building successful client relationships.”
Reed provides unparalleled technical and strategic aptitude for project management on multimillion-dollar elevator construction projects. For example, he oversaw a building modernization project for an Arizona power company serving nearly 3 million customers and collaborated with multiple contractors for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, producing a cost savings to the community while maintaining quality control. Based in Phoenix, Reed is responsible for all VTX western operations and developing client relationships with healthcare facilities management representatives throughout Arizona. He will continue to act as the key subject matter expert in elevator safety codes and perform investigative inspections.
An active Central Arizona Society for Healthcare Engineering member, Reed has led teams for independent elevator contractors as well as one of the top four elevator contractors in the U.S. He studied electronic service technology and industrial electricity at Midlands Technical College.
Founded in 2000, VTX focuses on design, construction, modernization, and maintenance of elevators, escalators, and moving walks. The firm thrives on collaborating with Gannett Fleming’s broad range of services across various industries, including facilities, transportation, earth sciences and natural resources, geospatial, water, and power. VTX is the only elevator consultancy company in the country that is ISO 9001:2015 certified, and all VTX field employees are certified inspectors.
