VTX® Selected for Systems Design at the Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center (ARTIC)
(July 9, 2010/Phoenix, Az.) Vertical Transportation Excellence (VTX), an elevator and escalator consulting firm, was selected by the Anaheim City Council and Orange County Transportation Authority to design the vertical transportation systems for the new Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center (ARTIC) in Orange County, Calif.
This transportation hub will serve as a major gateway and mixed-use destination for Orange County and Southern California. As a subconsultant to the Los Angeles office of Hellmuth, Obata & Kassabaum, Inc., a global architecture design firm, and Parsons Brinckerhoff, a global infrastructure strategic consulting, engineering and program/construction management organization, VTX will develop design criteria for vertical circulation; coordinate electrical, mechanical, and structural disciplines; perform factory inspection and construction inspections; and witness contract and code compliance inspections and performance testing of vertical circulation. The vertical transportation system includes 17 machine-room less (MRL) elevators and 14 heavy duty transit type escalators.
When complete in 2013, ARTIC will link commuter and regional rail services, as well as intercity bus, taxi, and local transit. Future phases will expand the center to accommodate California high-speed rail to destinations such as San Francisco and Sacramento and serve as the last station for the super-speed train between Las Vegas and Southern California.
VTX, an elevator and escalator consulting firm, serves aviation, education, government, healthcare, commercial, retail, recreation, and public transit clients across the United States. VTX operates as a division of Gannett Fleming, Inc., an international planning, design, and construction management firm.
