VTX® Participates in Elevator Escalator Safety Awareness Week
(March 20, 2009/Philadelphia, Pa.) VTX partnered with the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) in November 2008 to celebrate National Elevator Escalator Safety Awareness Week. VTX is an elevator and escalator consulting firm that serves aviation, education, government, healthcare, commercial, retail, recreation, and public transit clients across the United States.
The Elevator Escalator Safety Foundation (EESF) supports this week of safety training to educate passengers, especially children, about the importance of properly riding elevators and escalators. VTX has continually supported this important event by donating its employees' time and energy each year.
In November, VTX contributed by giving several presentations at Olney Elementary School in Philadelphia, Pa., as well as handing out safety flyers at multiple stations throughout the SEPTA system in the city. The students at Olney Elementary ranged from seven to nine years of age and enjoyed attending an assembly to learn about the proper way to ride this equipment.
A presentation was given at this event, followed by a video and short quiz on proper riding techniques. Also, a special guest, EESF's mascot, Safe-T Rider©, joined the assembly. The six VTX employees who assisted with this event were joined by Ralph Sizer with SEPTA's System Safety Division, who also participated in the presentation.
VTX operates as a division of Gannett Fleming, Inc., an international planning, design, and construction management firm.
